For a richer flavor, use browned butter instead of melted butter. If using fresh cherries, pit and halve about 2 cups of fresh cherries, then toss with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon lemon juice before adding to the cobbler. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of heavy cream. A pinch of almond extract added to the batter can enhance the cherry flavor. For a crisper topping, brush the top of the cobbler with melted butter during the last 15 minutes of baking.

Nov 17, 2022The cobbler was a bit too sweet for my taste. I would reduce the sugar next time.
